Jim is a painting of a bearded man in a sweater.
Jim may have come as a sub-conscious counter-point to my typical portraits, and perhaps more specifically, my painting of “The Royal.” Where I took pains to develop portraits in a more careful manner previously, it feels as if a part of my own sense of expression was being left behind. Perhaps this then released itself as the progeny of this residual expression. I explore this expression in this more abstracted and primitive portrait, which is more a primal desire to express abstract emotion.
Though it may be less clear in emotional intent, I intend this piece to evoke an emotion response from the audience.
